Founded in 2015...

Atlanta Dance Collective is a group of artists with a similar vision to create engaging contemporary work in the Atlanta dance scene. Dance Canvas 2015 served as the catalyst for Atlanta Dance Collective through the mutual involvement of Britt Whitmoyer Fishel and Sarah Stokes. Fishel and Stokes shared an interest in building a collaborative group of choreographers, dancers, and artists to make dance in the city of Atlanta. Over the years, Atlanta Dance Collective has produced their work throughout multiple venues in the Atlanta area, and participated in community festivals such as Atlanta Fringe, Dance Canvas, Decatur Arts Festival, Clayton State University's Lecture Program, Encore Dance on Film, Fulton County Dance Week, the MAD Festival, among others.

Along with performing their own stimulating work, ADC provides opportunities for local and national artists to share their work in the Atlanta community. ADC's own season shows have produced 7 artists over the past 4 years, as well as commissioned local artists to set work on the collective. In 2019, ADC  premiered FEMMEfest, which celebrated and showcased the vast scope of talent and work being done by women dance makers in Atlanta. In its first season FEMMEfest hosted 12 local Atlanta artists for the three day festival. For its second season FEMMEfest will display the work of 16 artists from Atlanta and across the southeast. In their 5th year ADC is sharing new interactive work for Spivey Hall's Young People's Concerts, performing the work of 2020 Artists in Residence Gianna Mercandetti (ATL) and Stewart|Owen Dance (Asheville, NC) in their season performances, touring new work to Athens, GA in ATHICA, a local gallery space, and premiering a new evening length work entitled and. then. exhale. by Co-founder and Artistic Director Sarah Stokes created in collaboration with composer Jonathan Maiocco
